Before I found the art of Tang Soo Do, I thought I was living a good life. My daily bouts of arguing and competing with my parents like they were my equal ingrained in me a strong sense of competitiveness, which I used to develop an academic base far above my peers. Coupled with a love of sports that I had from a young age, my competitiveness was even higher when it came to sports. All this winning and achievement went straight to my head, which became very big.

My introduction to First Tang Soo Do of Fremont started in September 2013. Before meeting Master Bell my life was typical of a young immigrant family. I am from the Metropolitan city of Chennai and being the eldest among 3 siblings, I did everything right in a timeline: school education, engineering degree, job and marriage. I got married and came to the US in 2001. I did my Masters degree and started working in the midst of having two kids.

I started on this journey as a 5-year-old and I was just like any other kid. I would play games on the phone, play outside, go to birthday parties on weekends, and eat junk food. I used to resist coming to karate class. I would stay at home or not come to the car and when I came to the car, I would stay in the car and not come to class.
